Dynamic tap dancers Avi Miller & Ofer Ben (pictured) along with Mark Goodman, the artistic director of the Mark Goodman Tap Company and former member of the American Tap Dance Orchestra, will lead dance workshops for both advanced and adv.beginner/intermediate level dancers. Other festival highlights include a tap showcase and a drumming circle.

Audition requirements:
Dancers must be prepared to perform a minimum 30 second accapella tap routine. Tap dancers must exhibit strong technique, musicality and stage presence. Tap dancers will also learn choreography during the audition process.
Two Ensembles will be selected
1. The Syncopated Heel Clickers
2. The Broadway Toe Tappers

Tap dancers that are accepted into Tap Troupe will have to commit to the following mandatory schedule
Tuesdays:
Tap and Jazz technique classes suggested by the Tap Director
Thursdays: Company Rehearsal
5:30pm – 7:30pm – The Syncopated Heel Clickers
6:30pm -8:30pm – The Broadway Toe Tappers
Classes begin September 14, 2010
The Hoffman Institute’s own resident tap ensemble meets twice a week to study and to rehearse for performance opportunities. Past appearances by the ensemble have included Walt Disney World, ABC News tailgate party, the Hoffman Institute’s Spring Concert on the Main Stage, Pinellas County EMMA Awards and Film Festival and many others. The youth tap repertoire includes cutting-edge choreography in everything from classical jazz to musical theater, rhythm and funk. |
