Eighteen-year-old Nicole Harrison registered to vote but doesn’t plan to cast a ballot.
Why bother? As her friend stresses the
importance of voicing her opinion, Nicole suddenly slips back through time. From the American Revolution through the Vietnam Era, Nicole battles to return to the present while others battle for the right she so casually dismisses. Standing beside women, minorities and young people demanding the right to vote, Nicole participates in changing the face of democracy as we learn how many shoulders we’re standing on every time we step into a voting booth.

spend time in her room with her imaginary Dad and the beloved creative inventions that her mom calls “junk.” Why doesn’t Mom get it? Interrupting Vanessa takes an imaginative look at how hard it is to make a friend and to lose one. It allows us to laugh while confronting difficult issues like bullying and the loss of a parent.
